Gardaí in Limerick have begun an investigation into the death of a baby girl.

Gardaí in Limerick have begun an investigation into the death of a baby girl.

The baby was found dead at a house in Shanabooley Road in Ballynanty at around 1pm this afternoon.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is expected to carry out a post mortem on the six-month-old at the regional hospital in Dooradoyle.

Gardaí at Mayorstone have confirmed they are investigating the death.
