The DUP has tabled a resolution in the Northern Assembly to expel Sinn Fein from the power-sharing executive for a year.

The resolution says there has been inadequate moves by the IRA on decommissioning.

The Ulster Unionist Party is accusing the DUP of a political stunt.

David Trimble accused the DUP of abusing assembly rules, and real target was to stir dissension in UUP ranks ahead of Saturday’s Ulster Unionist Council’s AGM.

With cross party support from the SDLP unlikely, the motion is almost certain to fail when it’s debated on Wednesday even if some Ulster Unionists do break ranks to make a majority Unionists vote.
