Four men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Fairview Strand just after 1.30am today.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the back while he was drinking at the back of a pub in the area.

He was brought to the Mater Hospital, where his injuries are said not to be life threatening.

Meanwhile, gardaí in Ballyfermot are investigating a separate shooting at Labre Park on the Kylemore road at around 2am today.

A 30-year-old man is being treated in St James' hospital after he was shot in the face and neck

Gardaí have sealed off the area for a technical examination and say they are following a definite line of inquiry.

The man's injuries aren’t life threatening.
