An Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a live WWI-era grenade today.

An Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe a live WWI-era grenade today.

The ordnance team were called in after the device was found during excavation work on a farm in Emo, Co Laois.

The Team arrived on scene at 1.40pm, examined the grenade and made it safe in location through the use of a controlled explosion.

The scene was declared safe at 2.05pm and the team have returned to base.
