170 jobs to go at Mayo factory

The Henniges Elastomers factory in Ballina, Co. Mayo, which supplies car components, has announced that it is to close with the loss of 170 jobs.

The Henniges Elastomers factory in Ballina, Co. Mayo, which supplies car components, has announced that it is to close with the loss of 170 jobs.

A further 50 sub-contracting jobs in the town are also set to go as a result.

The general manager of Henniges made the announcement this morning.

He blamed wage inflation as one of the main reasons for the closure.
