Senior gardaí to consider joining anti-austerity march

Senior gardaí are considering joining Saturday's anti-austerity march in Dublin to protest over any further move to cut their pay.

It follows comments from Public Expenditure and Reform Minister Brendan Howlin that the government wants further cost reductions within the public sector next year.

The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors says that would mark the end of the Croke Park Agreement, and its members will not be silenced on the latest attack on public sector workers.

The association represents 2,000 senior gardaí at sergeant and inspector rank.
