An inmate is recovering in hospital today after being injured in a stabbing at Limerick prison.

An inmate is recovering in hospital today after being injured in a stabbing at Limerick prison.

The man suffered injuries to his abdomen and chest in the incident, which happened at around 10am.

He was taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
