Out of 192 call outs in 2009, 42 were viable devices while 82 were hoaxes.

Those numbers compare with 183 call outs in 2008, 29 of which were viable devices and 98 of which were hoaxes.

The figures show that since 2007, there has been a doubling in the number of call-outs for the Army's bomb disposal team.
