Eight men have been remanded in custody after being charged with membership of the IRA.

The men - all aged between thirty and fifty - appeared before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin this evening.

They were arrested on Friday in Clondalkin in West Dublin on Friday as part of an ongoing garda operation into dissident republicans.

The eight will be remanded in custody to appear in court again on Friday.
