Monet's Garden looks likely to make his next racecourse appearance in the Commercial First Ascot Chase on February 17.
Trainer Nicky Richards reports his striking grey to be in good form at home, although no reason has emerged for his performance in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day, where he made much of the running but weakened rapidly in the final stages to finish a tired sixth of the seven home.
Richards feels the extended two-mile-three-furlong Grade One event at Ascot would be a suitable objective, although he is juggling some other options.
"He's fine at the moment and we will be running him again soon," said the Greystoke handler.
"There are a few races for him - the Ascot Chase, there's the Aon and the Game Spirit at Newbury and there's also a race at Cheltenham.
"But I think the Ascot Chase is the most likely option for him."
