Teenager dies after shooting at apartment in Co Meath

A teenager has died following a shooting in Dunboyne, Co Meath, in the early hours of this morning.

A teenager has died following a shooting in Dunboyne, Co Meath, in the early hours of this morning.

The 17-year-old, who is believed to be originally from Africa, was hit in the stomach when two men fired a shot through the door of an apartment at The Court complex near Dunboyne Castle Hotel just after 1.30am.

An ambulance crew arrived on the scene a short time later and took the victim to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where he later died.

The scene has been sealed off for technical examination and a post mortem examination will be carried out on the young man's body later today.
