The age of steam will be alive and well next week as racecourse customers are ferried to Cheltenham by steam train for the first time in 30 years.

Aided by volunteers from GWR Railway, Racing Tours Ltd will be running a daily service to the old racecourse station, with an Irish band in attendance 10 miles away at the starting point, Toddington station.

“We’re doing an all-steam service on all three days, with the exception of Thursday when we are also running a diesel service,” James Colling of Racing Tours said today.
