World champions Renault have announced a January launch for the car they hope will retain their titles.
The Anglo-French team, who powered Fernando Alonso to the drivers’ title as well as taking the constructors’ championship for themselves, will unveil their 2006 challenger in Monaco on January 31.
The car will make its track debut before then however, with a roll-out scheduled for January 10 in Jerez.
Alonso, the youngest champion in Formula One history, hopes the new car can satisfy his demand for success.
He said: “The [title] win hasn’t changed me because I still feel the same way about driving – I want to beat everybody.
“I am world champion for 2005, yes, but 2006 is a new season, and I want to be the best then, and in 2007, and 2008.
“I am a very competitive person at everything in my life, and next year will be a new chapter for me.”
Meanwhile, Toyota have confirmed they will host an official launch for their new car on January 14, at their Cologne factory.
The car has already started testing.
