A woman in her eighties has died after a crash in Co Cork.

Elderly woman killed in Cork crash

A woman in her eighties has died after a crash in Co Cork.

She was driving a car which collided with a truck at Clounties, on the Dunmanway to Bantry Road shortly before 3.30pm today.

The woman was the only person in the car at the time.

The male driver of the lorry was removed to Cork University Hospital with minor injuries. His passenger was uninjured.

The road remains closed while technical examinations are carried out. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
