EasyJet PLC, the Luton-based no-frills airline, has announced seven new routes, including three completely new destinations, two of which are in countries soon to join the European Community.
The seven routes, which will bring easyJet's total network to 135, are: London Stansted to Basel (Switzerland) and Ljubljana International (Slovenia); London Luton to Budapest International (Hungary); and London Gatwick to Naples (Italy), Ibiza (Spain), Faro (Portugal) and Prague (Czech Republic).
Hungary and Slovenia join the EU on May 1 along with eight other nations.
The new routes are the result of the airport tender easyJet carried out last summer.
In November 2003, the airline announced a long-term deal with Berlin Schonefeld Airport to operate 11 routes to six countries.
The new service to Basel's Euroairport will replace one from London Gatwick to Zurich.
The budget airline recently announced it was withdrawing the Zurich service due to what it described as an excessive increase in landing charges.
