Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a prominent loyalist in the North.

Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a prominent loyalist in the North.

George Gilmore was driving his car when he was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus in County Antrim on Monday afternoon.

The 44-year-old died in hospital on Tuesday.

The men - who are also charged with two counts of attempted murder and having a firearm - are due at Belfast Magistrates’ Court later.
