Gardaí seize €1m worth of heroin

A man and a woman have been arrested in Dublin after heroin believed to be worth €1m was seized, gardaí said tonight.

A man and a woman have been arrested in Dublin after heroin believed to be worth €1m was seized, gardaí said tonight.

The man was found with five kilos of the lethal drug when he was stopped and searched in Finglas in the north of the city this afternoon.

He was arrested by officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

In a follow up search at a location in the south inner city a woman was also arrested under the same legislation.

She is being held at Kevin Street Garda Station while the man is in custody at Finglas Garda Station.
