Drogheda United 2 Cork City 2
Roy O’Donovan scored twice to earn Cork a point in a thrilling game at United Park tonight.
Injury-hit Drogheda had the ideal start when Shane Robinson slotted home a seventh minute penalty - his third goal in a week - after Cork keeper Michael Devine pulled down Tony Grant after his defence got themselves into a real mess.
But O’Donovan came into his own to appear to turn the game on its head just past the hour mark.
The City striker levelled on 61 minutes from Neale Horgan’s low cross.
He then won a penalty three minutes later when fouled by Mikko Vilmunen which he converted himself.
But Drogheda hit back on 72 minutes when Finn Sami Ristila punished a defence mistake to shoot home.
