Equestrian rider dies at Cork event

A well-known figure in equestrian circles died while competing in an event in Co Cork earlier today.

A well-known figure in equestrian circles died while competing in an event in Co Cork earlier today.

Karen Rogers, who was an experienced rider, was killed while taking part in the one-day event at Ballindenisk.

She was competing on the cross country course with her horse Kilolitre Brigade at the time.

The chairman of Evening Ireland, John Wright, has paid tribute to Karen, describing her as a "well-known and popular figure in equestrian circles".

An investigation into the circumstances of her death has now begun.
