Nurses to stage lunchtime protests

Nurses at hospitals in Dublin, Cork and Roscommon are due to begin a series of half-hour lunch-time protests today to highlight the ongoing problem of accident and emergency unit overcrowding.

Nurses at hospitals in Dublin, Cork and Roscommon are due to begin a series of half-hour lunch-time protests today to highlight the ongoing problem of accident and emergency unit overcrowding.

The protests by the Irish Nurses Organisation and SIPTU were arranged to express anger at the crisis in A&E departments and the Government's failure to tackle it.

Today's demonstrations at the Mater Hospital in Dublin, Cork University Hospital and Roscommon General are the first of several due to take place between now and the end of the month.
