Message in a bottle travels almost 10,000 miles
An 11-year-old boy's message in a bottle has been found after travelling nearly 10,000 miles.
Cade Scott placed a postcard in a bottle in August 2011 with a message about his favourite TV show, 'Doctor Who', before throwing it into the North Sea.
He wrote: “I love Dr Who. If found, please send back with your name and address and how old you are. Cade. (sic)"
Amazingly, the message was discovered last month in Perth, Western Australia, by 25-year-old Matthew Ellam, who was celebrating Christmas on the beach at the time, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reports.
Earlier this month, Matthew wrote back: “Hi Cade, thanks for your postcard. I found it whilst celebrating Christmas on the beach in Perth, Western Australia! Happy New Year.”
The 17-month journey is thought to be one of the longest trips made by a message in a bottle.
