Supermodel Naomi Campbell is to speak to Trinity College philosophy students later this month, it emerged today.

Campbell, 37, who was once briefly engaged to U2's Adam Clayton, was forced to mop floors in New York last year as part of a community service order.

The Londoner will take part in a public interview by Trinity's Philosophy Society president Ruth Faller and may also take questions from students.

Ms Faller said: "We're delighted to have Naomi Campbell coming. We're expecting her at the end of the month but a date hasn't been tied down yet.

"She is still a young woman but has had a long and very varied career in modelling and films.

"We're also interested in hearing about her charity work for different causes like Live 8 and Hurricane Katrina victims."

Ms Faller said the Philosophical Society may have to move the event from the 250-seat Graduates' Memorial Building due to student interest.

"There is a lot of interest from students already so we may have to relocate to the Dining Hall which has capacity for 500," she explained.

Last year Campbell pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless assault against her maid and was sentenced to five days community service and ordered to attend two days of an anger management course.

She later caused a media frenzy by mopping floors at New York's Sanitation Department as part of her community service.

Hollywood actors Harrison Ford and Leslie Nielsen as well as Republic of Ireland manager Jack Charlton are also lined up to speak at Trinity in coming months.

Last year Al Pacino, Joanna Lumley and Michael Portillo trod the university's famous cobblestones to attend Philosophy Society events.

Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren also spoke to the students in October.
