The €3.4m cost cutting plan at Irish Ferries is the subject of talks at the Labour Relations Commission today.

A dispute over the proposals led to 450 temporary lay offs last week, and the suspension of most Irish Ferries services.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the main Unions, SIPTU and the Seamen's Union of Ireland, are refusing to negotiate as an alliance.
