O'Dea hits out at Kenny's 'bizarre' FG web video

Limerick TD Willie O’Dea has today branded Enda Kenny's appearance on Fine Gael's revamped website as "bizarre".

The Fine Gael leader appears on the website with a video message appealing for ideas from the public on how to improve the country.

"Not only did Fine Gael remove all of its policies from public view this week, but Enda Kenny, who has been studiously protected from participating in political debate over the last month, made a virtual return to the political stage through a bizarre video monologue on the party's website," said Mr O'Dea.

"Fine Gael and Labour have given us a real flavour of the kind of campaigning we can expect in a General Election campaign, one where style is valued more highly than substance and one where politics is more important than the real issues facing the country.

"Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore made clear that his number one political priority at this time is what job he will be entitled to after any election. While Fine Gael began the year by removing all of its party policies, raising a question mark over the status of its existing policy proposals and asking the public what it should do if elected to Government.

"In an interview on RTÉ earlier in the week, Eamon Gilmore made it clear that he believes the General Election has already been won and the only thing up for discussion is whether he will be the next Taoiseach or Tánaiste, not who will form the next Government or what will be its programme of activity."
