CURA crisis pregnancy service holds 30th conference

CURA, the Catholic Church's crisis pregnancy counselling service, is holding its 30th annual conference this weekend.

CURA, the Catholic Church's crisis pregnancy counselling service, is holding its 30th annual conference this weekend.

The organisation is currently locked in negotiations with the state-run Crisis Pregnancy Agency, who funds CURA to the tune of about €600,000 a year.

However, the CPA has threatened to withdraw these funds, if CURA continues to refuse to inform women about counselling services that discuss abortion as an option.

Negotiations have been on-going for nearly two years.

CURA spokesperson Charlotte Keary said yesterday that this issue is unlikely to be raised at the conference.
