Man seriously hurt in Kildare hit-and-run

UPDATE (Dec 16, 9.30pm): Gardaí have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with this investigation. He was arrested at a house in Newbridge.

Gardaí in Newbridge, Co Kildare are investigating a serious hit and run road traffic collision which occurred in Newbridge town tonight.

The collision occurred at approximately 8.40pm between a car and a pedestrian (65 years) on Eyre St at the junction of John's Street at James St.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and was taken to Naas General Hospital where his injuries are described as serious.

The car in question failed to remain at the scene and drove in the direction of Canning Place.

Gardaí in Newbridge are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been on the road around the time of the collision or anyone who may have any information is asked to contact them on 045 431212, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
