€4m extra to be spent on Dublin street-cleaning

Dublin City Council has announced plans to spend an extra €4m this year to clean up litter on the streets of the capital.

Dublin City Council has announced plans to spend an extra €4m this year to clean up litter on the streets of the capital.

The council said it was also planning to hire 50 new cleaning staff this year to help tackle the litter problem in Dublin.

The council, which published its annual waste management report today, said 25,000 tonnes of street litter was collected in Dublin last year.
