Viewing figures for last Sunday's live broadcast of the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Senior and Junior Football finals reached a total afternoon audience of 531,000 - an increase of 50,000 on last year's coverage of this event.

The average share of audience for the duration of the Senior final (Cork v Galway) was 27%, meaning that over one in four of all television viewers in Ireland at the time was tuned to TG4.

TG4's webcasting of the 2005 Senior finals doubled its viewership over last year's webcast of the same event. This year's finals were watched in Europe, North America UK and Japan.

Commenting on these viewing figures, TG4 chief executive Pól Ó Gallchóir said that he was delighted at this latest confirmation of the continuing growth of the TG4 audience.

"Coming at the end of the first full week of our new Autumn 2005 schedule, these audience figures are very welcome and represent the most tangible measure of success for us," he said.
