Paul Bosvelt will leave Manchester City this summer after signing a two-year deal with Dutch top-flight outfit Heerenveen.
The 35-year-old former Holland international, not among the substitutes for City against Portsmouth today, has made 64 appearances in almost two seasons with the Blues since joining on a free transfer from Feyenoord.
He had hoped to gain an extension to his current deal, which expires in June, insisting he was still fit enough to cope with the rigours of the Premiership.
But with Stuart Pearce believed to be considering only a short-term contract at best, Bosvelt has opted for the extra security of a move back home.
