State supergrass Charles Bowden has told the Special Criminal Court that he gave no thought to Veronica Guerin as he loaded the murder weapon which was later used to kill her.

State supergrass Charles Bowden has told the Special Criminal Court that he gave no thought to Veronica Guerin as he loaded the murder weapon which was later used to kill her.

He agreed with counsel for John Gilligan that he knew the gun would be placed in the hands of a hitman who had a "100% success rate".

Mr Bowden described how he had cleaned the .375 Magnum and had been given instructions to load it the day before the shooting.

"I knew Veronica Guerin was going to be shot, that there would be some attempt to warn her off," he said.
