A man caught with a major haul of cocaine, money and guns has been jailed for eight years at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Michael Fitzgerald had €1.2m in cocaine stashed in his house and his father’s house along with a large amount of mixing agents and equipment for packaging the drug.

The court heard the 30-year-old was holding onto the drugs for a modest fee.

Fitzgerald pleaded guilty to possession of two handguns, ammunition, mixing agents, cash from drug trafficking and over 10kg of cocaine at his home at Cushlawn Park, Tallaght and his father’s home at Corrib Road, Terenure on dates in 2010.

Judge Martin Nolan commented that it was a “huge amount” of drugs but noted Fitzgerald is a good candidate for rehabilitation.
