Pensioner injured in Garda car collision

A woman in her mid 70s has been seriously injured after being hit by a garda patrol car this afternoon.

A woman in her mid 70s has been seriously injured after being hit by a garda patrol car this afternoon.

The accident happened in the Dublin suburb of Clonskeagh at 3.50pm while the woman was waiting at a bus stop.

The woman has been taken to Saint Vincent's Hospital, but the hospital has refused to comment on her condition.

The patrol car was occupied by two female Gardaí, who were uninjured but are being treated for shock.

A garda spokesperson said the vehicle was not speeding at the time but could not say what had caused the accident.

An internal garda investigation is to take place.
