Navan trainer Noel Meade completed a short-priced treble at Fairyhouse today with Compostello, Fable and Top Ben.
But there was a down side as Paul Carberry, who partnered the first two winners for Meade, was later stood down after being kicked in the back when Red Red Red was an early casualty in the November Festival Hospitality Handicap Hurdle won by Wrapitup.
“Paul is stiff and sore and I have stood him down for 48 hours,” said the Turf Club’s medical officer Walter Halley.
Carberry should be fit though to resume at the next Irish jumping fixture, in Wexford on Saturday.
An inch of rain overnight saw an inspection carried out at lunchtime before the fixture went ahead, but the ground was still officially good to firm though probably riding good according to some of the jockeys.
Arthur Moore, who sent out Blanc C’est Blanc to take the novice hurdle, plans to reintroduce his stable star Native Upmanship in the Fortria Chase at Navan next month which is also scheduled to mark the return to action of dual Cheltenham Festival winner Moscow Flyer from Jessica Harrington's stable.
