ISEQ-listed bookmaker Paddy Power has released odds on how long Brian Cowen’s speech will be when he announces the Budget tomorrow, and reckon that he’ll come in under the hour mark, but not by much.
The 45-to-54-minute bracket is favourite at 11/8.
With all that talking, Mr Cowen’s throat is bound to go dry at some stage and Paddy Power reckon that he’s likely to take six or more sips of water during his speech, at odds of 11/8.
The short-priced favourite for the colour of the minister’s tie this year is blue at 5/2, and those who fancy him to be ultra suave can have a flutter on a cravate at 33/1.
Paddy Power said: “We all want to hear the bits that affect us in the Budget speech, but it can certainly drag through the other stuff. Having a little flutter is sure to make things a bit more interesting.”
The firm is also taking bets on the number of cars that will be clamped in Dublin on December 8, with the 251-to-300 range the favourite at 11/4.
