Man held after fatal hit-and-run in Kildare

A 26-year-old man is in garda custody following a fatal hit-and-run in Co Kildare last night.

A 26-year-old man is in garda custody following a fatal hit-and-run in Co Kildare last night.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, was cycling on the Kildare Road in Rathangan when she was struck by a van at around 7.30pm.

The driver failed to stop at the scene and the woman died later in hospital.
