Figures show unemployment has grown since Govt's jobs initiative

The jobs minister Richard Bruton has come under fire over figures showing that there are less people working now than there were when the Government introduced its jobs inititiative.

The jobs minister Richard Bruton has come under fire over figures showing that there are less people working now than there were when the Government introduced its jobs inititiative.

Fianna Fáil's enterprise spokesman Willie O'Dea has said the rate of unemployment has actually increased since the Government stepped in to try and create jobs.

Minister Bruton said the same figures also indicate that jobs are being lost at a slower rate than before, indicating that the economy is beginning to recover.
