'Very nice, quiet' Bray community in shock after woman's violent death

Gardaí in Bray are continuing to question a 21-year-old man in connection with the murder of a woman in the town.

The body of Lynn Cassidy, aged 50, was discovered at 1.30am in a house in the Deepdales Estate on the Southern Cross Road in Bray in the early hours of Friday morning.

Ms Cassidy, who worked as a counsellor, had been living at the Deepdales Estate for three years with her son, who is understood to have health issues.

Initial investigations by Garda forensic teams have suggested that Ms Cassidy may have died from blunt-force trauma to her head, while there was no sign the house had been broken into before the incident occurred.

The post mortem results are not being published for operational reasons, but Gardaí say she died in violent circumstances.

The arrested man must be either charged or released later today.

Local parish priest Fr Larry Behan said the Deepdales Estate houses were about 20 years old. He said it was a "very nice, very quiet community".

"Two people I've spoken to today who knew (Lynn Cassidy) said she was a very nice, pleasant lady," he said.
