Gardai in Co Meath are questioning one person in connection with a violent assault on a man in Navan this morning.

Gardai in Co Meath are questioning one person in connection with a violent assault on a man in Navan this morning.

The middle-aged victim is in a critical condition in hospital after he was viciously attacked in the Cavan Court area of Navan town centre.

Gardai have detained a young man in connection with the incident.

He is being held under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
