Gardaí in Ronanstown have launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in west Dublin tonight.

It happened at around 9pm this evening when the 20-year-old was sitting in a car outside a house on Moorfield Avenue in Neilstown.

He was rushed to Tallaght Hospital where he dies from his injuries.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Ronanstown Garda Station on 01-6667700 or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.
