Dublin Airport closed until 8am tomorrow

Dublin Airport will remain closed until 8am tomorrow.

Dublin Airport will remain closed until 8am tomorrow.

Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Aer Arann earlier cancelled flights at the airport for the rest of tonight, and the airport has no decided to stay closed to all flights until tomorrow.

Flights at Cork, Shannon and Knock are running, but delays are expected.

Around 3,000 flights have been cancelled across Europe today.

Siobhan Moore from Dublin Airport Authority has appealed for taxis to travel to the airport to collect stranded passengers:

"We are having a huge problem here with no taxis," she said.

"All the people who have had their flights cancelled are now in arrivals. There's a massive queue for taxis, so if I could send a plea out there for any available taxis to come to the airport to help people get to their location."

Meanwhile, all Irish Ferries sailings are operating normally and on schedule, but the company has warned that space is limited on all sailings up to and including Christmas Eve.

"The company continues to experience a surge in bookings, especially from foot passengers who have found themselves stranded at airports with the bulk of demand coming from those wishing to travel home to Ireland to be with family and friends for Christmas," said a spokesman.
