The chair of the Oireachtas committee examining whether a referendum should be held on children's rights has expressed support for such a vote.

The chair of the Oireachtas committee examining whether a referendum should be held on children's rights has expressed support for such a vote.

Fianna Fáil TD Mary O'Rourke says the committee is examining the wording of a constitutional amendment and will recommend that a referendum be held.

Children's rights groups have been calling for a referendum for some time to ensure that children's rights are enshrined in the Constitution.
