A French national who was shot in the head is tonight fighting for his life in hospital.
The 32-year-old was seriously injured when shots were fired into an apartment in Bray at 1am.
He was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont Hospital where he is on a life-support machine.
The victim, from Bordeaux, is believed to have been living in Ireland for three years.
He was not known to gardaí, who are trying to contact his family in France.
Detectives ware tonight hunting for two men who are suspected to have carried out the shotgun attack.
One man wore a blue baseball cap, a black jacket, light grey tracksuit bottoms and white running shoes, and was of average build.
The other man wore a black hooded top, black tracksuit bottoms, black shoes and was also of average build and height.
Supt Michael Lernihan, who is leading the investigation, said the suspects escaped in a silver car.
No arrests have been made yet.
