The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has refused to answer questions about whether or not he attended a controversial meeting with property developer Tom Gilmartin at the Dáil in 1989.

Reports this morning said Mr Ahern was standing by his previous sworn declaration that he could not remember the meeting.

Former Fianna Fáil minister Mary O’Rourke reportedly submitted an affidavit to the Mahon Tribunal before Christmas saying that both she and Mr Ahern attended the meeting along with other Fianna Fáil ministers.

When questioned about the matter this morning, the Taoiseach said any information he gave to the tribunal was confidential and would remain so.
