Man dies after Derry assault

A 19-year-old man has died after an overnight assault, police said today.

A 19-year-old man has died after an overnight assault, police said today.

A PSNI spokesman said the assault happened at about 2.30am on Rinmore Drive in the Creggan area of Derry.

He later died in hospital.

Two men are in custody and helping police with their inquiries. Detectives have begun a murder inquiry and appealed for information.
