Armed gardai who surrounded a house in Dundalk have succeeded in persuading a man to come down off the roof of a house.

Armed gardai who surrounded a house in Dundalk have succeeded in persuading a man to come down off the roof of a house.

It follows an earlier incident at a nearby supermarket in which a man wearing a balaclava and armed with what appeared to be a gun entered the premises close to the Cox's Demesne Estate shortly before 2pm today.

Gardai are not linking the two incidents at present.
