Man feared dead after house fire in Portlaoise

Gardaí in Portlaoise are searching the burned out remains of a thatched house amid fears that a man may have died in a fire at the building this morning.

The house in The Heath was occupied by a man, but it is unknown if he was inside at the time of the blaze.

The local fire brigade is on the site along with forensic investigators.
