The Arnotts department store in Dublin is reportedly set to lay off up to 400 of its staff this year as the famous store undergoes a major renovation.

The Arnotts department store in Dublin is reportedly set to lay off up to 400 of its staff this year as the famous store undergoes a major renovation.

Reports this morning say up to 400 of the 900-strong workforce will be let go as Arnotts moves to a new premises in the Jervis Centre while the renovation takes place.

The company says planning approval for the project is imminent.

Arnotts will return to its usual location in 2011 with an increased workforce of 1,200.
