Roger Federer made light work of Juan Martin Del Potro to claim his first title of the year at the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

The world number three defeated his Argentinian opponent 6-1 6-4 in an hour and 26 minutes – a ninth victory for the Swiss in 11 meetings.

Federer made two breaks in the opening set as he found a way through Del Potro’s impressive serve and then took five games from seven to come from 2-1 down in the second set.

Del Potro had forced five break points that Federer saved before converting one of his own in the fifth game to secure the win.
