Actors are suddenly discovering football.

Last year it was Jimmy Nesbitt who hogged the cameras at the Irish Cup Final between his favourite Irish League team, Coleraine, and Glentoran.

Now English First Division outfit, Crystal Palace, managed by former Northern Ireland star, Iain Dowie, have a new fan in Ballymena-born Liam Neeson.

Neeson took his sons Michael and Daniel to watch a recent Palace game and they met the players afterwards.

Dowie gave him the eye and commented: "He's a big lad, I wouldn't mind having him as a centre-half!"
