The number of patients on trolleys in hospitals has hit an all-time high of 569.

The number of patients on trolleys in hospitals has hit an all-time high of 569.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation described our emergency departments as resembling "war zones".

It is the highest figure since 2006 when the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation started its trolley-watch.

The INMO has called on the Government needs to "tackle the health crisis with the same urgency as the banking crisis".
